RCAN Luncheon Meeting
Features Open Forum Roofing Contractors Association of Nevada (RCAN) members hosted open discussions during their November 21, 2002 luncheon meeting held at the Country Inn Restaurant in Las Vegas. Principals of Accounting For Success, including Denise Henderson and Nancy Sprague, were scheduled to address attendees. However, due to the successful RCAN Golf Tournament held on November 14th, a week prior, few members turned out for this scheduled luncheon meeting. RCAN President Mark Paxson suggested that both Henderson and Sprague return at a later date to address members. Established last year, Accounting For Success (AFS) is a full service certified public accounting and business services firm. It’s management model is based on the teachings of Stephen R. Covey to reflect principled leadership practices, solid business/personal habits, win-win strategies, community support. Golf Tournament Review Golf Tournament Chairman Bob Crellin, Olympic Fasteners, told attendees that 92 players turned out for the event. "One of the best features was our raffle that generated over $3,000," he reported. I’m proud to announce the tournament was a financial success. Even with the extraordinary prizes we gave away, along with expensive meals, the event generated about $2,000 for RCAN." General Discussion And Closing Remarks After members talked about the tournament, and Accounting For Success guests answered question relating to the tax season, Mark Paxson said RCAN will contribute monies to the fight against construction defect litigation ($5,000 was later donated to the Nevada Subcontractors Association). "There’s no doubt in my mind that liability insurance rate will continue to sky rocket. When the legislature convenes next month, we’ll be receiving input from Carson City on a regular basis. OSHA problems are still with us. It’s an issue that we must stay on top of, along with impending ergonomic and environmental concerns." |
