Las Vegas and Builders Insurance Rewards Safety-Conscious Contractors
by Ned Barnett
Southern Nevada construction businesses have the opportunity to save 10
percent on their workers’ comp coverage – right now – and as much as
30 percent based on their long-term safety performance, thanks to a new
“Retro” workers’ comp insurance program – “SafetySELECT” –
being jointly offered by ABC – the Associated Builders and Contractors of
Las Vegas – and Builders Insurance, one of Nevada’s largest
construction-trade workers’ comp providers.
To be eligible for BIC’s SafetySELECT, according to Senator Warren
Harding – the Executive Director at ABC – a non-member has to first join
ABC, then sign up for this new workers’ comp “retro” program and
immediately save 10 percent on what they’re currently paying for
workers’ comp insurance coverage.
Hardy explained that ABC recognized that finding
affordable workers’ compensation insurance is one of the most difficult
and expensive challenges contractors face as business owners.
That’s why Builders Insurance teamed up with ABC, to provide ABC
members with SafetySELECT, which offers members an immediate 10 percent
discount on their workers’ comp coverage and – if their safety record is
exemplary, to have their workers’ comp premiums retrospectively reduced by
as much as 30 percent, based on the safety performance of their group.
Hardy said, “Working with Builders Insurance
Company of Nevada – one of the state’s largest workers’ comp providers
– ABC has created what we feel
is an exciting, profitable new membership benefit that could save our
members thousands of dollars. Specifically, we are creating a group that
will give you cost-saving benefits – “retrospective premiums” –
usually reserved exclusively for those contractors who pay more than
$100,000 per year in workers’ comp premiums.”
This benefit is available to both long-term ABC members and new
members who join just to take advantage of this remarkable new cost-saving
benefit.
To help participants achieve this goal, as a
Builders Insurance client, participating ABC members will receive all the
benefits of BIC’s remarkable safety enhancement program, which was
recently written up in Las Vegas Business Press.
"SafetySELECT,” according to Builders
Insurance’s Wes Ingram, “offers up-front discounts, and promises
outstanding rewards for employers with a strong safety culture.
“Here’s how this program works,” Ingram
explained. “Eligible ABC Las Vegas members who join SafetySELECT
immediately receive a 10 percent discount on their workers’ comp coverage.
They are then grouped together with other ABC members and treated as if they
were a single, very large insured company.
This allows eligible contractors some of the distinctive advantages
that are usually enjoyed only by the largest employers. With this program,
you can maintain a competitive edge when bidding jobs.”
